College and Career Event Planning Toolkit
Communities have tremendous influence over the trajectory of Vermont residents. For communities to flourish, those who live there need enough education and training to earn a livable wage in a job they find meaningful, as well as be productive and engaged in the community. Regionally based college and career events can help students of all ages, backgrounds, and interests access education and training resources. These events send the message to individuals that the community supports them in pursuing their dreams.

To support Vermont’s community leaders in developing successful college and career events, Advance Vermont and VSAC have partnered to develop the College and Career Event Planning Toolkit. The toolkit is a guide to planning these events in Vermont, including checklists, tips, templates, and resources.
College and Career Event Planning Resources
Designed to accompany the College and Career Event Planning Toolkit, the resources below provide tips, templates and guides for the development and implementation of college and career events, including example events and activities. Feedback or suggestions regarding these resources are welcome, and may be sent to Advance Vermont.
College and Career Event Funding Opportunity
Advance Vermont and VSAC, through generous support from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation and the J. Warren & Lois McClure Foundation, awarded grants of up to $2,000 to regionally based organizations across Vermont to support college and career events in their communities.
Applications were welcomed from schools, agencies of State and local government, and nonprofit mission-driven organizations.
Priority was given to proposals that (in no particular order):
- Focus on closing equity gaps related to college and career awareness and readiness
- Bring together multiple community organizations
- Are new events to your region
- Are in line with the best practices outlined in the Advance Vermont/VSAC College and Career Event Toolkit
