By 2028, 100 percent of the state’s high-growth, high-wage jobs will require education or training after high school. Yet, as of 2019, only 53 percent of working age Vermonters hold a postsecondary credential (apprenticeship, certificate, degree etc.)–well short of the state goal of 70 percent by 2025.

Advance Vermont is out to change that.

Founded in 2017, Advance Vermont unites business, education, government, non-profit, and philanthropy around a common goal to increase the attainment of post-high school credentials for the benefit Vermont’s civic and economic vitality.  Our work strives to grow the aspirations for and completion of credentials, increase equity in educational attainment, and strengthen connections between education, training, and employment.

This spring we launched, MyFutureVT, an innovative online one-stop for career and education resources.

Advance Vermont is currently seeking candidates for two positions: Data and Research Coordinator and Outreach and Policy Manager.

Advance Vermont is fully remote at this time and expects to move to a remote-heavy hybrid model this fall, with a full-time remote option possible. Some in-state and out-of-state travel may be required. Both positions come with competitive pay and excellent benefits, including health, dental, retirement, and paid time off.

The Vermont Student Assistance Corporation is a core partner and provides office space in Winooski and operational support for Advance Vermont. Applicants will be applying through the VSAC hiring portal.

Data and Research Coordinator

Advance Vermont seeks a professional passionate about using data to inform decision making and drive statewide change.

The Data and Research Coordinator will take the lead on all things numbers. Among other things they will:

  •  Track and visualize indicators of postsecondary attainment via Advance Vermont’s data dashboard, working with local and national data sources.
  •  Lead the Vermont Credential Transparency Project,  Advance Vermont’s effort to create state’s first comprehensive database of post-high school education and training programs.
  • Lead research efforts that inform the organization’s policy agenda and advocacy efforts.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of MyFutureVT.

The ideal candidate will enjoy manipulating large spreadsheets and data sets, have excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to make complex information understandable and accessible to the public.

Outreach and Policy Manager

Are you the type of person who sees problem and asks “how can I bring people together to solve it?” If so, we need your help!

The state has set a goal that 70 percent of Vermonters will hold a postsecondary credential by the year 2025. It’s a big goal that requires a coordinated effort of educators, employers, government and non-profit leaders, and philanthropists. As a collective impact initiative, Advance Vermont fosters collaboration and spurs action to help reach that goal.

Advance Vermont seeks candidates skilled in stakeholder outreach, partnership building, and advocacy for the new position of Outreach and Policy Manager.

The position will play a key role in bringing together a growing group of stakeholders statewide to ensure more Vermonters have access to and complete post-high school education and training. This includes creating new organizational partnerships, leading outreach efforts to drive awareness and use of MyFutureVT (Advance Vermont’s new online hub for education and career resources), and developing and implementing advocacy campaigns.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a passion for building partnerships to drive systems level change, possess a background in workforce and education policy, and enjoy thinking outside the box to find solutions to complex challenges.
